Terms of service.
The agreement between you and Energy Counsellor. We've kept it as readable as a legal document allows.
1. What the service is
Energy Counsellor analyses the electricity bill you upload, compares your rates and usage against available energy plans, and produces general information: a savings report, plan comparisons, concession pointers, household setup suggestions, and ongoing monitoring alerts. It is an information service — not financial advice, and not an energy retailer or broker. See the disclaimer.
2. Your account and access
The free check needs no account. Paid access ($29 for 12 months) is tied to your email and is for one household. Don’t share your login around — that’s what the price is protecting.
3. Payments and renewals
Payment is processed by Stripe. Access lasts 12 months and does not silently auto-renew — we’ll ask before charging you again. The 7-day refund guarantee applies to every purchase.
4. What you promise us
- You’ll upload only bills you have a right to (yours or your household’s).
- You won’t attempt to scrape, resell, or reverse-engineer the service.
- You won’t use the service unlawfully.
5. What we promise you
- Recommendations ranked only by your projected cost — never by payments from retailers.
- Uploaded files deleted after extraction; structured data handled per the privacy policy.
- Reasonable efforts to keep plan and concession data current, with sources and dates shown.
6. Accuracy and liability
Savings figures are estimates built from your bill and dated plan data. Retailers change rates, and bills contain edge cases; always confirm plan details with the retailer before switching. To the extent permitted by law, our liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months. Nothing in these terms excludes rights you hold under Australian Consumer Law.
7. Changes and termination
We can update these terms with notice on this page; material changes will be emailed to members. You can close your account anytime. We can suspend accounts that breach section 4.
8. The boring essentials
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Contact: support@energycounselor.ai.
